Yet, no one can deny that dust is something that can not be avoided. Your house/apartment may be quite close to street or there might me construction work going nearby etc. Anyone would get sick and tired of such air that is full of dust and pollution. Cleaning is the first and foremost step to begin with. You need to pay extra care towards carpets, sofa sets, pillows etc. that soak in the dust and you can not clean them so easily. After a certain period of time, you must vacuum clean your carpet. You can also get it dry-cleaned if considerable time has elapsed. Wash off door mats regularly too. These two are the basic collectors of heaps of dust. Next is your bedroom; properly clean pillow covers, bed sheets and wash them regularly. Curtains are also in the row. You may dust everything everyday, but you tend to forget these things.
Your house must be cleaned from every corner after 15 days or so, especially if you are living in area facing ever-increasing traffic. Keep the windows that open towards roads close. Also, cleaning them every weekend will save further invasions of dust mites etc. Finally, you can use ionic air purifier. It is not 100% effective, yet helps removing dust suspended in the air to a great extent. You will find that the air inside your house is way lighter, clean and fresh. This will ensure that you are immune to dust and allergies.
